THE SIX-PASSENGER "SIX-PACK"
The Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) License, commonly referred to as a 6-Pack License. For the purpose of the OUPV endorsement an uninspected passenger vessel is a vessel of less than 100 GRT (about 65 feet) carrying six or fewer passenger for hire. is quite popular and can be endorsed with Master's Upgrades rated by tonnage of 25 Gross Tons, 50 GT, or 100 GT increments. The Master's upgrade allows the holder to operate inspected vessels as well as uninspected ones. The total number of passengers is limited to six or fewer. Non U.S. citizens may be restricted to undocumented vessels with a 5 net ton limit. Typically, an OUPV Credential is used in the context of small-scale fishing boats, SCUBA boats, whale-watching, and the like.

MASTER AND MATE INLAND
Your tonnage is determined by the U. S. Coast Guard depending on your experience for a 100 Gross Tons license, 90 days must be on vessels of 51 gross tons or greater OR 180 days must be on vessels over 34 gross tons for a 50 gross tons license at least 1 day of the 360 must be on a vessel over 5 gross tons. If all your time is on a vessel of 5 gross tons or less the license will be limited to 25 gross tons.

MASTER AND MATE NEAR COASTAL

For the Mate Near Coastal 180 of the 360 days must have been on the ocean or near coastal waters

Your tonnage is determined by the U. S. Coast Guard depending on your experience for a 100 Gross Tons license, 90 days must be on vessels of 51 gross tons or greater OR 180 days must be on vessels over 34 gross tons for a 50 gross tons license at least 1 day of the 360 must be on a vessel over 5 gross tons. If all your time is on a vessel of 5 gross tons or less the license will be limited to 25 gross tons.

AUXILIARY SAIL ENDORSEMENT
Licensed Masters or Mates may be endorsed for sail or auxiliary sail, as appropriate. This endorsement authorizes the holder to operate inspected sail or auxiliary sail vessel, as applicable, within the scope and limitations of the license. A written examination is required to demonstrate knowledge of sailing. Upon successfully passing the exam, a certificate will be issued that will be recognized by the USCG as satisfying the testing requirements.
